Fios 1 News: Horse Therapy for the Disabled

August 12, 2015 11:40 AM

HackensackUMC is connecting patients at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital with the benefits of Pony Power Therapies, a nonprofit organization which provides therapeutic riding and other horse-assisted activities to those with special needs.
Felicia Gliksman, D.O., Department of Pediatric Neurology, was interviewed about the benefits of the program for children battling life-threatening illnesses. Tucked in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains, pediatric patients and their families ride horses, learn about organic farming and beekeeping. The sessions are funded by a portion of the proceeds from the 2015 Susan Zabransky Hughes Memorial 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the HackensackUMC Foundation.
