Fox 5 NY: Coping with Food Allergies

Millions of people suffer from food allergies and many of them are children. According to the Centers for Disease Control, food allergies among children have spiked 50% between 1997 AND 2011. According to Mary Ann Michelis, M.D., chief of Allergy and Immunology at HackensackUMC about 8% of children in the United States have food allergies. Dr. Michelis says that food service industries, like restaurants as well as travel industries must be aware that significant allergic reactions can occur.
