On September 13, more than 1,000 guests gathered at world-famous Yankee Stadium in the Bronx for the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation Annual Recognition Gala. This year’s Recognition Gala raised more than $2 million, which will benefit the many programs and initiatives provided by HackensackUMC.
“Congratulations to the entire HackensackUMC Foundation team for their efforts in organizing such a successful event this year,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of Hackensack University Health Network. “I would like to thank our sponsors and guests who contributed so generously. Proceeds from this event directly contribute to the operations of our world-class medical center and allow us to continually enhance our programs, services and facilities.”
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed live music, food and exclusive photo opportunities in normally-reserved areas of the ballpark, including the Yankee dugout and Monument Park. Guests mingled with former Yankee Greats Bernie Williams, Cecil Fielder, Mickey Rivers, Mike Torrez and Roy White, who signed autographs and posed for photographs.
The entertainment continued throughout the evening, including a jazz guitar performance of “Bernie’s Birthday Blues” by Bernie Williams in the Legends Club in celebration of his 46thbirthday. After the performance, Robert C. Garrett presented the former Yankee with a birthday cake. During the course of the event, various bands played throughout the stadium – including Lavender Steel, Company Men, Michael Delguidice and the Big Shot Band, Hot Sardines and the High and Mighty Brass Band.
Established in 1980 as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, the HackensackUMC Foundation raises funds that support the diverse programs and services at the medical center.
