Just 30 seconds before the New Year, Jared Branda and Stephanie Lopez of Hasbrouck Heights welcomed Jacob Michael Branda at The Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.  Baby Jacob weighing 7lbs 1oz and measuring 19 ¾ inches long is the last baby born in the state of New Jersey.  After a long labor and about two hours of pushing, little Jacob arrived just before the clock stuck midnight.

“It is all so surreal. I feel like I am on a cloud right now,” explained first-time mom, Stephanie.

Maximus Kane Mena of Nutley, born at 2:27 a.m. January 1, 2016 was the first birth for 2016 at The Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center and the first baby born in Bergen County in the New Year. Weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20 ¼ inches long, he was welcomed by his proud, first-time parents, Irena and Eric Mena.

Both parents were excited for their new addition after finishing a home renovation just a week prior to their son’s birth.
