HackensackUMC Earns 2015 Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Center Award

Hackensack University Medical Center is pleased to announce that it has earned a 2015 Mission: Lifeline® Bronze Receiving Center Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The award recognizes a hospital’s success in implementing a higher standard of ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) care by ensuring that these heart attack patients receive treatment according to nationally-accepted standards and recommendations.

Garrett, president and chief executive officer, Hackensack University Health Network. “Receiving this quality achievement award affirms HackensackUMC’s reputation for being a top hospital for the treatment of a heart attack.”
Mission: Lifeline® Bronze Receiving Centers achieve higher than 85 percent composite score on the eight Achievement measures, with no single measure below 75 percent. This recognition is based on ACTION Registry®-GWTG™ data from January to December 2014.
HackensackUMC’s clinical cardiology team has helped make it one of the highest-ranked cardiology departments in the country. As part of its commitment to prompt cardiac care, there is a cardiologist on call 24/7 for the Emergency and Trauma Center (ETC) as well as the Observation Unit. In addition, there is an interventional cardiologist and full cardiac team of nurses and technicians available within 30 minutes for emergent intervention for patients with an acute heart attack. HackensackUMC’s state-of-the-art healthcare encompasses the entire continuum of care for the heart patient and includes: Dispatch, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Department, Catheterization Lab, Cardiac Surgical Services, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Quality Assurance Plan and Community Outreach Program.
HackensackUMC was the only hospital in Bergen County to receive full accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) for a Full Cycle IV Accreditation. The medical center is also a 2015 Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of Heart Attack from Healthgrades.
