HackensackUMC Welcomes First Baby Born in 2014

New parents, Dorianny and Aaron Stewart hold their daughter, Laylah Arianny, who was the first baby born at Hackensack University Medical Center on January 1, 2014.

HackensackUMC is proud to announce the first baby born in 2014 at the Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital.  Laylah Arianny Stewart came into the world at 6:20 a.m. weighing 6 pounds 10.9 ounces and measuring 19 1/2” in length.

Laylah Arianny is the first daughter for Aaron and Dorianny Stewart, who live in Paterson.  The couple has two sons who are proud to welcome their little sister into the family.

Dorianny was scheduled to undergo a Caesarian section on Friday, but she went into labor on New Year’s Eve.  David Nunez, M.D. delivered Laylah via C-section and both mother and daughter are doing well.

“We’re ecstatic that our daughter is the hospital’s first baby to be born in 2014,” said Aaron Stewart of Paterson. “Laylah is the new light for the New Year. She’s perfect and came out looking so cute.  She was crying, but when I started talking to her, she stopped.  The nurses told me she recognized my voice.  We are so proud of our new baby and being born on New Year’s Day is a sign that good things will happen for her.”
