HackensackUMC Welcomes First Baby Born in 2015

New parents, Zeynep and Garip Umit hold their daughter, Turkan, who is the first baby born at Hackensack University Medical Center in 2015.

HackensackUMC is proud to announce the first baby born in 2015 at the Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital. Turkan Umit came into the world at 12:11 a.m. weighing 7 pounds 3.5 ounces and measuring 20” in length.  She is the first baby born in Bergen and Passaic counties in 2015.

Turkan is also the first baby for Garip and Zeynep Umit, who live in Little Ferry.  Little Turkan was born 11 minutes after midnight on Thursday, New Year’s Day, and was delivered by Dr. Huseyin Copur.

Both mother and daughter are doing well and the proud parents are ecstatic that their daughter is the area’s first baby born in 2015.

“Turkan is the most beautiful gift I have ever received,” said proud father, Garip Umit. “And, she’s the most beautiful New Year’s gift I have ever received and she is a gift from my wife.”
