Healthgrades is the nation’s leading healthcare ratings organization, reviewing thousands of hospitals each year and recognizing the top-performersin the nation that have achieved quality excellence in particular specialties, clinical excellence, and patient safety.
This year marks Healthgrades’ 16th annual study of hospital quality in America, which assesses risk adjusted mortality and major complication rates for more than two dozen common procedures and diagnoses such as heart attacks, stroke treatment and total knee replacement, just to name a few.
As many of you are aware, Healthgrades uses a 5-Star rating system. HackensackUMC’s average rating places us in the top 1% of all hospitals on the list!
What does that mean?
If all hospitals performed at the same level as Hackensack, 157,069 lives could have potentially been saved nationwide between 2010 and 2012.
Overall 23.29 % lower risk-adjusted inhospital mortality across 19 procedures and diagnoses where in-hospital mortality was the outcome studied.
