2014 Prestige MINI Cooper Road Rally for the Audrey Hepburn Children's House at HackensackUMC.
For the ninth year in a row, Prestige MINI of Ramsey and dozens of its customers made the holidays brighter for patients of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House, a division of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.
With their cars fully loaded, the owners of MINI Coopers and their families delivered toys and other items to the Children’s House, a state-designated Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect, which has more than 7,000 patient visits annually.
“Every day, I am astounded at the cruelty I see inflicted upon children by those they trust the most,” said Julia DeBellis, M.D., medical director of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House, HackensackUMC. “But the generosity of Prestige MINI and its customers is as equally overwhelming. The joy and happiness these toys provide to our patients is immeasurable and the spirits of children in crisis that are lifted as a result of this generosity is heartwarming. I cannot thank Prestige MINI enough for its continued support of the abused and neglected children we serve.”
Many of the toys that were delivered were purchased as part of the Season of Giving that Prestige organized. Customers could purchase an item on the virtual wish list at www.DrivePrestige.com. Each tag on the tree represented an individual child’s wish for a particular gift. This year, in addition to toys, the Prestige Family of Dealerships donated a 2015 BMW X4 xDrive 28i to benefit the HackensackUMC Foundation and Ramapo College. The drawing washeld immediately following the Road Rally.
The raffle raised a total of $82,400, which was split between the two organizations.
“It’s an honor to help make the holidays brighter for the children who are served by the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House,” said Chris Turner, vice president, Prestige MINI of Ramsey. “I’d like to thank our customers, who go above and beyond every year to contribute so generously to help make the difference in the life of a child.”
Staff members of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House wrapped many of the presents and distributed them to the children at the annual holiday party. This year, the party was held at HackensackUMC Fitness & Wellness Powered by the Giants in Maywood and was hosted by Holiday Express, a non-profit organization, which entertained dozens of patients and their families. Live music was provided by the Holiday Express Band and dozens of Holiday Express volunteers entertained the children with various activities including arts and crafts and face painting.
The remaining toys collected by Prestige MINI will be distributed to new patients of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House throughout the year.
