News 12 New Jersey: HackensackUMC helps family searching for missing special teddy bear

February 12, 2015 05:03 PM

HackensackUMC helps a family in their search for a very important stuffed animal. The bear was given to the Chamides family in 2012 in honor if their son Micah, who was stillborn. "Bear," as they called him, has been everywhere with them, even as their second son, Hayden was born. Recently, Hayden was treated at The Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at HackensackUMC for a bronchial infection. After Hayden was discharged, the family realized that "Bear" was missing. The medical center searched for Bear, but was unable to locate him. Then, hospital staff contacted a toy company and asked if a new "Bear" could be made for the family. Another New Jersey family, who heard about Bear's disappearance on Facebook, realized they had the exact same bear. They traveled to HackensackUMC to meet the Chamides family and personally give them their stuffed bear. Staff from the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital also presented the Chamides family with the bear they had made for them.
