News 12 New Jersey: Pony Power Therapies

August 18, 2016 03:05 PM

In what has become an annual highlight of summer, HackensackUMC is connecting pediatric patients and their families with the benefits of Pony Power Therapies.
Pony Power, a nonprofit organization in Mahwah, NJ, provides therapeutic riding and other horse-assisted activities to special needs and at-risk populations. Nestled in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains, pediatric patients ride, feed and groom horses; learn about farming and beekeeping; and decorate rocks that leave a lasting imprint on the path to the garden.  Stephen Percy, M.D., acting chairman of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's hospital explains about the benefits of this unique program.
