I spent medical school in wild and wonderful West Virginia learning from the challenges and opportunities presented by rural community medicine. Moving to the urban Northeast is an entirely different adventure and I am excited to be here. Why HUMC? Between the volume and acuity of the patients and the great people, it is precisely the learning environment I was looking for.

Blake Sonne, M.D.

Bio: I was brought up by New Yorkers, so it's in my blood. I live in the city and don't mind the commute into New Jersey, unless it's snowing (I'm from Houston). I look forward to every shift in the ER, and made the perfect career choice. I love the challenge of any case that rolls through the door. Every patient is a new puzzle, and bedside manner is key. When my shifts are over, I enjoy exploring the city and minimize wasting time. My goals for the next few years living in NYC are to meet as many good people as possible, discover every exceptional restaurant and cocktail bar, and to find a wonderful woman to share life's adventures. I've learned a few things in the past years: life's short, eat slowly, give generously, love deeply, laugh out loud, live spontaneously, and expect nothing back.
