Our Services

At the Molly Center, we believe that diabetes affects the whole family, and we utilize a team approach to diabetes management. Children and adolescents with diabetes need specialized medical care to stay healthy and to avoid complications. We provide patients and their families with the most up-to-date treatment options and the best methods of management. Our mission is to help each child with diabetes and their family to live a full and satisfying life and to reach the goals they had before diabetes came into their lives.
In addition to state-of-the-art medical care, parents and their families participate in no-cost education and support groups in our “After School at Molly’s” program. This unique program provides valuable information and support to children and their families within a fun and positive atmosphere. Families participate in lectures that include practical tools for diabetes management, fitness, and understanding family dynamics.  Children and parents also connect with other families affected by diabetes, and have opportunities to participate in social events and Molly holiday parties.

Diabetes Transition Program:
Trasitioning from Pediatric Care to Adult Care

The transition from the pedatric to adult world can be diffcult fo young people with diabetes.  This has been recognized among specialists in diabetes care for a long time.  In order to ease the transition of a child or adolescent into the adult who is expected to be responsible for all aspects of his or her health care we offer a special program here at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Adolescents who are ready to transition are being encouraged to attend visits to the MOLLY Center for Children with Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders where they are seen by both pediatric and adult practitioners.  Physicians, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses and registered dietitians who are certified diabetes educators are available.  Patients receive assistance for the social and emotional  aspects of diabetes from our social worker(s).  Additionally, each patient is assessed for their readiness to move on to the adult world of health care.
Hackensack University Medical Center has a number of adult endocrinologists and diabetologists who can continue the same level of care started in the MOLLY Center for Children with Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders.
