How Pulmonary Rehabilitation Can Help You Manage Your Respiratory Disorder
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program that combines exercise, education and other therapies that allow you to gain independence from your respiratory disorder.
Individuals who are a part of our pulmonary rehabilitation program visit HackensackUMC three times a week to participate in a supervised exercise program, and also benefit from educational classes that include nutrition and breathing strategies to improve their quality of life. 
In addtion, we host a pulmonary rehabilitation support group that meets once a month. Within this support group, patients can share their feelings and experiences about living with their respiratory condition and be a part of educational presentations. 
The HackensackUMC Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Symptoms of Common Respiratory Disorders
How do you know if you are suffering from a respiratory disorder? Below are some common symptoms that you may be experiencing:
Shortness of breath, even while you’re resting
Chest tightness or pain
Chronic coughing that produces clear, white, yellow or greenish mucus
