Infectious Diseases

The Infectious Disease Division at The Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient consultation on the diagnosis and management of all types of acute and chronic pediatric infections.  We work closely with pediatricians, intensivists, neonatologists and other specialists  to provide comprehensive quality care to children.

Education and prevention are essential parts of what we do in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases section.  We provide teaching and education for physicians, medical students, residents, pharmacy residents, fellows, nurses and outside institutions regarding important topics such as appropriate use of antibiotics, resistant infections, and infection control.

Our efforts in education and prevention extend to our patients and their families as a routine part of their care in order to help them make the best choices regarding their health.  Travel Kids, a service of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases section, offers a comprehensive customized pre-travel service that includes travel counseling and immunization  tailored to meet the needs of child traveling outside of the United States.
