Hackensack (November 29, 2011) – Robert Garrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hackensack University Medical Center, issued the following statement regarding the State Health Planning Board’s recommendation to open HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley:
“We are pleased by the State Health Planning Board’s decision to support the opening of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley. This is a significant step in the process toward reopening the hospital and extending Hackensack University Medical Center’s world-class health care network to the Pascack and Northern Valley regions. Today’s meeting further demonstrated the community’s overwhelming support for the new hospital and validates the strength of HackensackUMC’s application. We look forward to Commissioner Mary O’Dowd’s decision and remain confident this fair and open process will lead to the opening of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley, creating hundreds of good-paying jobs and finally bringing Westwood’s community hospital home.”
If approved, Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley will be a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital, providing the same nationally recognized quality care that Hackensack University Medical Center is known for. The hospital will feature all private patient rooms, a state of the art obstetrical unit, and an intensive/critical care unit. Surgical capabilities will feature five operating rooms and one special procedure room, in addition to a cardiac catheterization room. This inpatient hospital will act as an anchor to many in-demand, outpatient services such as radiology, women’s health and same-day surgery, among others.
