The Auxiliary of HackensackUMC reached a milestone, raising a total of $444,000 from May 2014 to May 2015 to complete a pledge of $2.5 million. The funds will support programs at the Heart & Vascular Hospital and the John Theurer Cancer Center at HackensackUMC.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Auxiliary for its fundraising efforts and the remarkable accomplishment of completing its $2.5 million pledge,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of the Hackensack University Health Network. “Their efforts will greatly benefit our patients and their families.”

The Auxiliary gathered to celebrate this achievement during a luncheon at Sanzari’s New Bridge Inn in New Milford, NJ. Auxiliary President Peggy Liosi presented HackensackUMC with a check for $444,000.

“It was very exciting to present that check,” said Peggy Liosi. “Every branch of the Auxiliary gave us an important boost. Our volunteers do this out of the goodness of their hearts and we have a lot to cheer about.”

Funds raised this year were generated through various Auxiliary sources, including Corner Shops and Green Caboose Thrift Shop sales and employee branch events.

“The Auxiliary’s significant fundraising achievement will make a meaningful difference in supporting our patients and programs,” said Helen A. Cunning, vice president, development-strategic campaigns, HackensackUMC Foundation. “We are so appreciative of their dedication and partnership.”

Established in 1980 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the HackensackUMC Foundation raises funds that support the diverse programs and services at the medical center.  The Foundation accepts contributions in the form of direct cash gifts and pledges, matching corporate gifts, planned gifts and naming opportunities.  For more information on upcoming events or ways to donate, please call 551-996-3720 or visit HackensackUMCFoundation.org.
