WMBC TV: World AIDS Day

Hundreds of High School Students from Bergen, Passaic and Hudson Counties attended the annual Youth World AIDS Day conference in Tenafly. Sponsored by The AIDS Outreach Program at HackensackUMC, the students heard from medical professionals at HackensackUMC about the transmission and treatment of HIV and AIDS. According to Julie Piwoz, M.D., section chief, Division of Infectious Diseases at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at HackensackUMC, AIDS is a treatable disease, only if those who are infected know they are carrying the virus.
