September 29, 2014 12:44 PM

Former Good Morning America Anchor, Joan Lunden, posed on the cover of People Magazine with her head shaved after being diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. Rachel Wellner, M.D., a breast surgeon at HackensackUMC was interviewed about this particularly aggressive form of breast cancer. On average, some 200,000 women are diagnosed every year with breast cancer. Dr. Wellner says the earlier the diagnosis, the better chance of survival. Because of early detection efforts by women and their health care providers, the survival rate of a breast cancer diagnosis is now upwards of 90%.
