April 20, 2015 03:41 PM

The John Theurer Cancer Center offers a unique form of therapy, through a program known as Kula for Karma. While chemo, radiation and other forms are medication are prescribed, so is yoga. “It not only gives the individual the tools to manage stress anxiety pain, but kula means community. We almost create a kula within a kula,” said Geri Topfer, founder of Kula for Karma. She initially created Kula for Karma in 2007 for troubled children. The program grew to include a broader community in need and is now inclusive to cancer patients. Classes are held five days a week.
