Hackensack Joins State Safety Campaign to Reduce Pedestrian-Motor Vehicle Crashes

The city police plan to combine strict enforcement of traffic rules with an education campaign to reduce the number of people hit by cars. City officials and the Police Department have launched an awareness campaign that aims to reduce car crashes involving pedestrians. Fliers and banners with the program’s slogans “Heads Up, Phones Down” and “Check Your Vital Signs” have been distributed throughout the city to reduce distracted driving and walking. The campaign was detailed recently at a news conference at Hackensack University Medical Center which featured Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., president of Hackensack University Medical Center and Sanjeev Kaul, M.D., chief, Division of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Injury Prevention.
