Creating a world class facility
In 1895, Hackensack Hospital as it was then known, received its first major bequest of $1,000 from the widow of Cornelius A. Herring, a member of the hospital’s board, for the “maintenance of a bed in memorial” of her late husband.
From that first memorial bed to now, nearly 120 years later, hundreds of like-minded friends have supported Hackensack University Medical Center through their will or estate plan. Generating more than $50 million in funding, such generosity empowered our doctors, nurses, and staff, to create the world-class facility that we know today.
The Legacy Society recognizes the thoughtful individuals who have provided for Hackensack University Medical Center in their estate plan. Members are gratefully acknowledged with a listing in the Margery S. and Charles J. Rothschild, Jr. Recognition Gallery located in the main hospital lobby.
