In an effort to provide the highest quality of care to our patients we ensure that every Paramedic, EMT, and critical care transport Nurse receives rigorous and ongoing classroom and clinical education in alignment with Hackensack University Medical Center’s mission, vision, goals, beliefs and values.
Our educational environment is one that supports a culture of excellence by providing educational programs based on the latest clinical evidence and research in an effort to support excellent quality patient care outcomes.
The EMS Dinner Lecture Series
Our 2017 EMS Dinner Lecture Series will take place each month in two locations: At Hackensack University Medical Center’s Main Campus in the David & Alice Jurist Reaserch Center Conference Room on the third Tuesday of each month and in Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley Community Room on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
The free lectures include: free CEUs, buffet dinner, and parking.

Hackensack University Medical Center and the 24th District of the New Jersey State First Aid Council are pleased to announce that they are offering scholarships to deserving students. Since 2001, Hackensack University Medical Center and the 24th District have teamed up to help scholars and EMTs from our area. Students can apply for any of the scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 26th Annual EMS Excellence Awards Program held at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack, New Jersey. Recipients and their families will be recognized by Hackensack University Medical Center along with Bergen County’s first responders, EMS, police and fire departments at this annual recognition dinner held in mid-May.
The Scholarship Committee has the final determination in awarding the scholarships. All parts of the scholarship must be mailed certified/return receipt requested and post marked no later than April 15, 2017. Applications should be mailed to Mr. Chuck Parodi, 48 West Grove Avenue, Maywood, New Jersey 07607-1548.
Robert D. Cirri Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is named in honor of Robert D. Cirri. Robert was a per-diem paramedic at Hackensack University Medical Center and a Port Authority police officer who lost his life on 9/11. Applicants may be a graduating high school senior or presently attending a college or vocational school. The applicant must be an EMT certified riding member of an EMS squad or child of an EMT certified riding member of an EMS squad.
Emil Yannetti Scholarship
This scholarship is open only to persons whose squad is a member of the 24th District, NJSFAC. The requirements are the same as listed above for the Robert D. Cirri Memorial Scholarship.
William DeLooper Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored and given by VCI Emergency Vehicles Specialists of Berlin, New Jersey. The scholarship is open to all persons whose squads are members in good standing with the NJSFAC.
V.E. Ralph EMT Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored and given by V.E. Ralph Emergency Medical Products of Kearny, New Jersey. The scholarship is open to all persons whose squads are members in good standing with the NJSFAC.
EMS Outstanding Service Award
The EMS Outstanding Service Award is given to one individual who exemplifies commitment and dedication to the profession of EMS. Please submit your nomination based on the following criteria: Recognition for outstanding service to the community as a member of an EMS agency through activities such as leadership, education, mentoring and/or promotion of the profession of EMS.
All nominations must be received by Hackensack University Medical Center no later than April 15th.
