Alois Ndlovu,PhD, DABR, DABMP
Director of Medical Physics
Residency/Fellowship: Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital, UK
Dr. Ndlovu is the Director of Medical Physics at the John Theurer Cancer Center at HUMC. Following his undergraduate degree in Liverpool, England (Physics, Honours) and Masters degree in Nuclear Medicine (Dublin, Ireland), he obtained his PhD in Applied Nuclear Physics in 1990 from McMaster University, Canada. Dr Ndlovu followed that with a British Council fellowship at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital in England. He is board certified in therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology and in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Medical Physics. He has practiced medical physics for over 20 years. He is a past president of the New Jersey Medical Physics Society, an active medical physics surveyor for the American College of Radiology Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ROPA) and an oral examiner for the American Board of Radiology medical physics examinations.
Alex Kapulsky, PhD, DABR
Residency/Fellowship: Montefiore Medical Center, NY
Dr. Kapulsky received his B.S. and M.S degree in Physics from Lobachevsky’s University in USSR in 1978. In 1985 he obtained his Ph.D. degree from Institute of Crystallography, Russian Academy of Science in Moscow. He switched his focus to applying radiation to treat cancer and was a Belfer research fellow in radiation oncology department at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1994 to 1996. From 1996 to 1998 he was an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology in Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Then he went to work in Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. Since 2000, he has been a medical physicist in the department of radiation oncology at Hackensack University Medical Center. He is board certified in therapeutic radiation physics by the American Board of Radiology. He provides clinical physics service in radiation oncology clinic and currently is the lead physicist for Tomotherapy. His research interest is in using various methods of verification of treatment delivery. He has presented his work at national and international conferences.
Igor Rebo, PhD, DABR
Residency/Fellowship: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY
Dr. Rebo received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Leningrad State University (Russia) in 1980 and 1989, respectively. In 1989 he went to the United States to pursue his career in experimental x-ray spectroscopy physics and became a post-doctoral fellow at the Space Science Lab at the University of California at Berkeley. He switched his focus to applying radiation to treat cancer and was a post-doctoral research fellow in radiation oncology department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York from 1990 to 1993. From 1993 till 1998 he was Chief Medical Physicist in the department of radiation oncology at Faxton Hospital, Utica NY. Since 1998 till present he is a Staff Physicist at Hackensack University Medical Center, NJ. He is board certified in therapeutic radiation physics by the American Board of Radiology. He provides clinical physics service in radiation oncology clinic and currently the lead physicist in Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. His research interests are focused on quality assurance of treatment delivery of radiation. He has authored/co-authored over 15 peer reviewed articles/abstracts related to this and other medical physics subjects in referred journals.
John obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh-Dickinson University in 1982 and an M.S. in Radiation Science from Rutgers University in 1995. He was certified by the ABR in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics in 1998. He received initial training in Medical Physics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. While at St. Barnabas Medical Center in NJ, he taught Radiation Physics to Radiation Therapy students. John led the development of a robust brachytherapy service while at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, including low dose rate prostate seed implants and high dose rate brachytherapy. He also commissioned one of the first intravascular brachytherapy programs in the state of New Jersey, offering patients treatment using three different treatment techniques. He has focused on clinical implementation and quality assurance of new treatment modalities in the clinic, and has a special interest in high dose rate brachytherapy. John has co-authored several posters and articles, mostly in the area of brachytherapy.
Joe Barbiere, MS, DABR
Joe Barbiere is an ABR certified Physicist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics. He is currently employed by Hackensack University Medical Center as Staff Physicist. His education and experience include a B.S. (1970) in Physics from The Cooper Union and a M.S. (1972) in Biophysics from New York University followed by work experience as a consultant, community hospital and major medical center radiotherapy physicist, and industrial engineer for medical devices. His primary interest is in treatment planning optimization with presentations and publications in point based image registration, video patient monitoring, and novel applications of patient specific film QA.
Roland Teboh Forbang, PhD, DABR

Dr. Roland Teboh Forbang is an Associate Professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and an ABR board-certified Radiation Oncology Physicist at the John Theurer Cancer Center at HUMC. He earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from the University of Buea, Cameroon; a Master’s degree in Physics from Michigan Technological University and a PhD specializing in Medical Physics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is a two time recipient (year 2008 and 2009) of the ACMP Young Investigator award. His clinical/research interests include 4D treatment planning and radiotherapy, radiobiological modelling and treatment plan assessment, real-time tumor tracking radiotherapy, multi-modality image application for image-guided radiotherapy including ultrasound, x-ay imaging, and MRI. He is also interested in 4D MRI where he is co-inventor associated with US patent US20120245453 A1 involving a novel technique to reconstruct dynamic MRI data. He has authored/co-authored over 65 peer-reviewed articles/abstracts related to these subjects in referred journals. Prior to joining the program at HUMC, he was the Residency Program Director of the Therapy Medical Physics program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he was also Head of the Cyber Knife and stereotactic physics program.
Residency/Fellowship: Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ, NJ
After earning his B.S. in Physics (High Honors) from University of Florida, Dr. Lewis attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, where he completed his M.D./Ph.D. in Physical Biochemistry. He did two years of Internal Medicine training at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City before switching into Radiation Oncology training at Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick, NJ, as its first hire into the new residency program. He has been faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill in Raleigh, NC and he previously worked in the Barnabas Health system in NJ before joining Radiation Oncology at JTCC in 2013. At JTCC, he has started the SBRT program and Lutathera programs, and he is Medical Director and Chief of Service of Radiation Oncology at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ.
Chairman, Radiation Oncology
Residency/Fellowship: Columbia University, NY
Dr. Ingenito is the Founding Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at JTCC of HUMC and leads one of the largest radiation oncology departments in New Jersey; also serving as Co-Director of the Institute for Radiosurgery, an integral part of neuro-oncology comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of radiosurgery specialists. He is also a member of Regional Cancer Care Associates, New Jersey’s largest oncology physician network. Dr. Ingenito joined HackensackUMC more than 24 years ago, and has been continually transforming his department to ensure that it offers patients only the most innovative and accurate treatment options available, including rapid arc IMRT/IGRT on three state of the art TrueBeam linear accelerators, TomoTherapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy. Dr. Ingenito specializes in the treatment of cancers of the central nervous system, lung/thoracic tumors, gastrointestinal neoplasms, breast cancer, pediatric malignancies, and lymphoma.
George Beninati, CMD
Chief, Medical Dosimetry Services
George Beninati is Chief of Medical Dosimetry Services and a MDCB certified Medical Dosimetrist. He graduated from St. Peters’ College in Jersey City, NJ with a BS degree in Heath Care Management. George also holds an A.A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology along with a certification in CT Scan technology from Bergen Community College. He holds a certification in Radiation Therapy from The School of Radiation Therapy from St. Barnabas Medical Center and has been employed at Hackensack University Medical Center where he has, since 1993, assumed various roles such as Radiation Therapist and Lead Simulator Therapist. George has served on the Association of Medical Dosimetry Education Committee and as Co-Chair of the HUMC Unit Based Council. He has taught Medical Physics at Bergen Community College as an adjunct professor and Medical Dosimetry clinical instructor. George serves as the Radiation Oncology Clinical Trial Coordinator for helping credential HUMC for various national clinical trials and coordinating our patients with Medical Oncology. Among his many other interests, George applies best practices in treatment planning, helps to implement new policy procedures, and maintains ACR, ASTRO accreditations.
