Darlene Cox, MS, RN, FACHE, WHF, Administrator, Regulatory and Community Affairs
Darlene L. Cox is an energetic, results-oriented healthcare leader, who possesses broad operations and nursing leadership experience in academic and community settings. A graduate of Cornell University and the University of Michigan, Ms. Cox is a Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business Healthcare Executives program, a White House Fellow (WHF), a Fellow of The Academy of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP). In 2018 Ms. Cox assumed responsibility for Regulatory and Community Affairs for the Department of Clinical and Patient Care Services.
Ms. Cox has served as an administrator at Hackensack University Medical Center since 2011 with a focus on patient experience through service excellence, growth and development. She also served as a liaison to the People Centered Foundation for the Accountable Care Organization. In addition, Ms. Cox is a panelist for the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Foster G. McGaw Prize for Health Research and Educational Trust. She is an active member of the following professional organizations: American Hospital Association (AHA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), American Nurses Association (ANA), New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and The White House Fellows Foundation and Association (WHFFA).
Ms. Cox previously served as Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Patient Care Services at University Hospital (UMDNJ) and also as CNO and part of the Executive Team at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center (New York Presbyterian Medical Center). As a former President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Medicine and Dentistry (UMDNJ) and also former Chief Executive Officer of Essex Valley Healthcare (East Orange General Hospital in New Jersey), Ms. Cox takes an innovative approach to providing solutions to healthcare delivery challenges.
In her clinical leadership roles, Ms. Cox has provided oversight for Emergency Trauma Services, Preoperative and Ambulatory Services and as a liaison to Advanced Practice Nurses. Completing the White House Fellowship offered Ms. Cox a new perspectives on leadership as well as a strict adherence to sound fiscal policy, ethics and compliance standards. She has published in her field as a contributor and has a distinguished career as an industry keynote speaker where she shares the combined perspectives of a consumer, caregiver, provider, administrator and healthcare leader.
