Hackensack University Medical Center’s health education programs engage residents to eat healthy, be active, manage stress, and avoid substance abuse. Events are offered in the community and at the Debra Simon Center for Integrative Medicine in Maywood. Many of our efforts teach participants how to take care of their own health and become better advocates for their health. We offer programs focused on:
Smoking cessation
Preventing falls
Bone health
Managing chronic disease
Preventing type 2 diabetes
Hands-only CPR instruction and early signs of a heart attack
Nutrition, physical activity, and healthy choices for children and adults
Alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and drug use in young people
Disease prevention, screening, and personal safety
Blood pressure and diabetes screening, body composition assessment, and falls risk evaluation
Healthy cooking through our teaching kitchen
