Fraxel Re:pair
Fraxel is a group of revolutionary laser treatments that improve the appearance of the skin for a younger, rejuvenated look.
Fraxel treatments target damaged, aging skin and help slough it away to make way for healthy, new skin cells to grow. While there are several different types of Fraxel treatments, Fraxel Re:pair is the most aggressive form, providing dramatic results for even the most severely damaged skin. These results can be achieved in just one short treatment session.
The advanced Fraxel technology offers deeper dermal laser penetration (depths up to 1.6mm) than traditional treatments, and is delivered by laser pulses in fractional patterns. The laser vaporizes tiny columns of tissue on the skin’s surface, stimulating the body’s natural skin cell and collagen regenerative responses. Because of its minuscule size, the Fraxel laser does not damage surrounding healthy tissue, allowing for rapid healing to only the targeted area.

Treatments and Procedures
Fraxel Re:pair Procedure
Fraxel Re:pair is a true nonsurgical alternative to more invasive surgical and resurfacing procedures, as it significantly reduces the risks and recovery time associated with facelifts and other resurfacing procedures. Fraxel can also be considered a potentially preventative treatment, as it often eliminates the need for a facelift.
The Fraxel Re:pair procedure is performed in your doctor’s office with just a topic anesthetic. Your doctor may also apply an FDA-certified water soluble blue tint to highlight the contours of the skin and guide the Fraxel device over the treatment areas for improved results.
The laser device is moved over the targeted area in order to deliver precise, effective energy that destroys damaged skin cells and promotes the growth of new, healthy skin. The entire procedure usually takes less than an hour to perform for treating the whole face.
The Fraxel Re:pair laser is FDA-approved to treat:
- Wrinkles
- Loss of skin elasticity
- Sun-induced redness (vascular dyschromia)
- Sun and age spots (pigmented lesions)
- Irregular texture
Recovery from Fraxel Re:pair
After Fraxel treatment, patients may feel as though their skin is sunburned for about an hour after the procedure. While there is usually no discomfort, mild swelling and pinkness may be present for a few days, before going away on their own.
The new epidermal skin usually develops within 24 hours, and may have a bronze tone for a few days or weeks. This new skin will flake and exfoliate as new skin cells grow. Most patients can return to work and other regular activities about a week after treatment. Your doctor will give you specific instructions for recovery after your Fraxel Re:pair treatment.
Results of Fraxel Re:pair
Unlike many other skin repair procedures, Fraxel Re:pair can be performed in a single treatment session. The results of this procedure are visible immediately after treatment, and will continue to improve as side effects subside and the treatment progresses. Most patients experience full results three to six months after treatment as the deeper layers of the skin heal. With full results, patients can often enjoy:
- Improved skin tone and texture
- Smaller pore size
- Reduced appearance of acne scars, age spots and brown spots
- Smoothed wrinkles and lines around the eyes
- Rejuvenating skin on the chest, neck and hands
It is important for patients to certain precautions after treatment to protect the skin and help it heal properly. Patients should avoid direct sun exposure for at least three months after Fraxel treatment, and should apply sunscreen of at least 30 SPF, as the new skin is highly sensitive.
