Our urologists specialize in diagnosing and treating men who are experiencing elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
The right diagnosis by an expert is important. Many men receive a diagnosis of prostate cancer after they receive blood test results revealing an elevated PSA. However, high PSA levels don’t always signal prostate cancer. Our urologists can provide an accurate diagnosis of other prostate problems, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH or enlarged prostate) or an infection called prostatitis.
Our experts will diagnose the specific cause of your elevated PSA and develop a treatment plan best suited to your condition and needs. If your condition requires surgery, you can rest assured that our urologists will use minimally invasive robotic surgical techniques whenever possible to help preserve the nerves that control erectile function.

Diagnosis
An Accurate Diagnosis
If your PSA level is elevated, we will conduct a thorough exam to determine the cause and develop a treatment plan that is customized to your specific needs and condition. Our goal is to provide an accurate diagnosis of your condition as quickly as possible.
UroNav System
If our urologists suspect that you have prostate cancer, we may recommend an ultrasound biopsy procedure. Our urologists use the UroNav system, which uses MRI and ultrasound biopsy guidance technology to help obtain high-quality tissue samples. This technology enables our urologists to determine the type and stage of the prostate cancer and pursue the best possible treatment options for you. We are one of only 2 centers in NJ with this state of the art technology.
Utmost Preservation Our urologists use the most advanced, minimally invasive prostate treatments to preserve sexual function.
Symptoms and Causes
Men who are experiencing prostate problems typically have elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a protein produced by the prostate gland, in their blood. These symptoms include:
Frequent or urgent urination
Difficulty getting a urine stream going
Feeling as though you are unable to empty your bladder completely
Pain when urinating or ejaculating
Fever and chills
Pelvic pain
Cloudy urine
Get Screened
If you are between 55 and 70, have a family history of prostate cancer you should have your PSA tested or have a frank discussion with your urologist regarding the risks and benefits of undergoing yearly screening.
Prostate Treatment
Depending on your specific condition, your urologist may recommend a range of prostate treatments.
BPH or Enlarged Prostate
Your doctor will assess your condition and the severity of your symptoms before developing a personalized treatment plan for you. If surgery is recommended, our urologists are skilled at performing the latest minimally invasive procedures. Treatment options include:
Medication. Your doctor may prescribe medications that relieve symptoms or reduce the size of your prostate. Depending on your condition, your doctor may also prescribe a combination of medications.
Transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP). Using state-of-the-art robotic technology, small incisions are made in your prostate to relieve pressure on your urethra.
Laser treatment. Using the GreenLight™ Laser system, pulses from a high-powered laser eliminate your overgrown prostate cells.
Transurethral needle ablation. A heated needle is used to destroy a portion of your prostate.
Prostatectomy. Typically performed only if the prostate is very large or if there are other complications, a prostatectomy is a robotic surgery to completely remove the prostate gland.
Urolift®. Urolift is a procedure that uses permanent implants to hold enlarged prostate tissue out of the way so it no longer blocks the urethra.
Prostatitis
Prostatitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection, so your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to treat the condition.
Prostate Cancer
Our team works closely with you to develop an individualized treatment plan designed to effectively cure your cancer while preserving your quality of life. By using a personalized approach, we are able to identify which men are best served by aggressive treatment and which men can safely be treated with a more conservative method. From diagnosing the cancer, to understanding the stage and aggressiveness of the disease, to deciding on treatment options, our team is with you every step of the way.
