Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital

Providing emotional support and the most advanced care available during and after your pregnancy

Why Choose Us for Your Care?

Your team includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists and Magnet®-recognized obstetric nurses who work with obstetric anesthesiologists, neonatologists, pediatricians, and your private practice obstetrician/gynecologist to provide you with care tailored to your needs.

Patients come to us from all over the country, drawn to our renowned care.

We treat more women with high-risk pregnancies than any other center in northern and central New Jersey.

Our maternal-fetal medicine experts created the first program in the country for women with abnormal placental development. It has served as a model for similar programs in our region, across the country, and around the world.

Specialized Programs
In addition to the Center for Abnormal Placentation, our Division includes the Fetal Care Program for fetuses with birth defects or other problems that can complicate birth; a Perinatal Diagnostic Unit featuring advanced obstetric imaging and screening procedures; and the Center for Early Pregnancy Loss to evaluate women who have experienced loss of a pregnancy between 12 and 20 weeks, especially those who have had multiple miscarriages.

We achieve excellent outcomes, with a 0% maternal mortality rate, the lowest rate of blood transfusion in the country in an MFM program, and the lowest rate of maternal admissions to the intensive care unit.

Hackensack University Medical Center is a teaching hospital, meaning your doctors and all of our staff are up-to-date on the most advanced medical care and surgical techniques.

We have protocols in place to minimize the risk of maternal bleeding (hemorrhage) during childbirth as part of the New Jersey Perinatal Quality Collaborative, as well as hypertensive crises (dangerously high blood pressure) and other complications that can be life-threatening.

Our investigators include PhD-trained scientists who are completely dedicated to our program and are conducting research to advance obstetric care.

Care for the Whole Patient
Your team takes care of all of you—attending not only to the physical health of you and your baby, but also supporting your emotional and social health during and after your pregnancy.
